Glass Fireplace Screens

Decorating the fireplace became a much loved doings for many household owners. They are no longer just interested in the warmth given by the fireplace but also to its over-all appearance. Even before the existence of modern fireplaces, the use of fireplace screens is already present. People use them as protection from the fire and its sparks. The purpose of a fireplace screen even before is to keep ashes and sparks from getting out of the fireplace and cause possible damage, not only to the place but also to the people near the fireplace. The incident of fire might also be triggered if the sparks of the fireplace is not properly controlled. Today, lots of decorative fireplace screens are made available that are also dual-purpose in nature. Screen types, such as the glass fireplace screens, are not just improving the visual appearance of the fireplace but also serves the protective purpose. Owning a natural gas fireplace or a fireplace ran by electricity does not mean that owning a fireplace screen is no longer necessary. Anyone can still own one even if it’s for decorative purposes only. Fireplace screens are made with materials like brass, iron and formed iron. Transparent or stained glass is used to fill up the spaces in the screen.  Opposite to the glass, fillings are placed to create a leveled design.

If the fireplace already has inserts used, the use of fireplace screens such as glass fireplace screens, is no longer advisable since inserts completely closes the fireplace preventing sparks and ashes to fly out of the fireplace.
